Support for La Romana and the Bateyes During COVID-19: Double Your Gift With Matching Funds!

A major effort is underway to support the people of La Romana and the bateyes during the COVID-19 crisis. Based on information from our partners at El Buen Samaritano Hospital, Joe Hartman School, and Mision Maranatha, there are three critical needs:

• food for the hungry in La Romana and the bateyes

• support to purchase medicines for those who can no longer afford them

• financial support for friends from the mission, the hospital, and the Joe Hartman School.

Now you can have your donation matched! Two churches have donated funds to be matched in support of the families of the Joe Hartman School and Beraca Church in Kilometer 6 - up to $10,000! Donate now to match your donation dollar for dollar - give through Venmo, PayPal, credit card, or check, or give here via Facebook.

There are certainly many needs and difficulties here in the United States with this crisis, and we hope you are able to support the many opportunities here at home. In addition, we hope you will support this effort in La Romana by clicking here – 100% of every donation will go directly to those in great need in the La Romana.

Watch the recorded live Zoom meeting with Moises Sifren, CEO of El Buen Samaritano Hospital for an update from La Romana (April 15, 2020).

This support is desperately needed now as the Dominican government battles the spread of the virus and has ordered most businesses and all schools to close, set a strict 5pm to 6am curfew, and shut their borders and airports. Our partners at El Buen Samaritano Hospital have also been ordered to close all areas of the hospital other than for emergencies and potential COVID-19 patients. This has led to the vast majority of friends and mission partners in La Romana to be out of work and without income.
