"Our dear and precious friends in the DR are reminded that they are seen, they are not forgotten, and they are unfathomably loved by our amazing Lord and Savior."

Summer 2025 in La Romana was filled with so many incredible glimpses of God’s faithfulness and goodness. The special moments did not cease upon return to the States. One night, I was reading Romans and on my way to chapter 15, verse 13, and felt led to stop in Romans 10 which reads, “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’”

Earlier that evening, a dear DRMT volunteer shared her desire to get the outline of the Dominican Republic tattooed on her foot. The trips have been that meaningful and impactful in her life that she wants it with her forever. I was quite inspired by the idea and pondered what I might do as a similar act of remembrance. As I read the passage in Romans 10, tears welled up inside. How will others hear about Jesus if no one tells them about Him? How will they know the Father’s Love unless someone wraps their arms around them and prays with them?

In a very tangible and beautiful way, the DRMT shows the heart of our Father by meeting physical needs in a way that honors the dignity and value of every life and points to the One who fulfills all of our deepest spiritual needs. Whether it’s through a box of food delivered to a home by a sweaty bunch of people in matching shirts, or having an impromptu worship session with homemade drums and maracas at VBS, or a simple smile and hug to a deeply hurting heart, our dear and precious friends in the DR are reminded that they are seen, they are not forgotten, and they are unfathomably loved by our amazing Lord and Savior.

Not only is Christ’s character shown to the people of the DR, but it is so beautifully reflected to one another on the team. The deep faith of those around me so immensely blessed my heart and encouraged my walk with the LORD in incredible ways. The Christ-exalting and life-speaking moments with one another equipped and strengthened the team to then go and pour out on others.

God is too good not to be shared. LORD, please use our feet to bring your Good News to all the world for Your Glory and Praise… in our homes, our neighborhoods, and everywhere we go. As Romanos 10:15 says, “Cuán hermosos son los pies de los que anuncian la paz, de los que anuncian buenas nuevas!” And now there is tattooed on my foot the reminder of this precious truth forever.
